Close-ups in the Studio

December 2021

Painting in the studio had slowed down after the art show at Tractor Brewing (September-October 2021). It’s very normal and needed after the preparations. I’m getting back at it and re-acquainted with my art area after the semi-hiatus. Do you remember the magazine Highlights with the section of close up pictures? This is my studio version.

From top left to right:

  • The pile up of small bits that I can’t let go of yet

  • A drawer of acrylics and canvas I tested materials on

  • One of the three lamps in the studio (light is so important!), color chart, and framed artwork

  • The website stamp I bought ages ago and still works, surrounded by supplies

  • My favorite sharpener and watercolor paints

  • Framed art still available from the Tractor show. Sold 5 framed works with 7 left!

  • Hanging from a pushpin a painting shirt and stack of paper cut with different openings used to visualize before cropping

  • A basket filled with what seems like everything, but mostly sketchbooks and pads of paper

  • My favorite paints (again) and of course rocks. I have rocks everywhere in the studio and home
